A Listening Space in Isola




Isola is slowly becoming my favorite neighborhood in Milan.
So many thoughtful, design-driven spaces have quietly gathered here — independent shops, small studios, places with character. And one afternoon, walking without a plan, I stumbled upon something that instantly felt right: Section80Bar.

Neon light. Geometric lines. Stacks of magazines. Rows of vinyl records.
Titles from A24, Eggers, Aster and other cult publications casually resting on shelves — as if this were part bar, part editorial studio, part living room for creative minds.

Here, you can read, listen to music, join themed screenings, have a cocktail, a coffee, or something small to eat. No pressure to rush. No need to perform. Just stay.

The interior is sharply designed yet welcoming. The visual identity was developed by the renowned graphic studio La Tigre, while the architecture was conceived by Studio Wok. A custom hi-fi sound system by H.A.N.D. Hi-Fi delivers precise, immersive audio — not overwhelming, just beautifully present.

Lighting plays a key role: linear, repeated graphic forms create a shifting atmosphere, with adjustable intensity and color that subtly transform the room throughout the evening. Even the smallest details feel intentional — custom-designed handles inspired by street language, black-painted plywood stools, stackable stainless-steel carts in the book area. Industrial, but warm. Minimal, but never cold.

Section80Bar is more than a bar.
It’s a hybrid space — lounge, listening room, kitchen, and library curated by Edicola 518 — all coexisting under one roof. There’s even a state-of-the-art LED cinema wall that turns the bar into a screening room when needed.

Minimal design wraps around vinyl and light, like a space built for sound itself. It’s the kind of place where music becomes the main character, and you’re simply invited to sit and listen.
